Cemlyn Bay Nature Reserve - Cemlyn is one of North Wales Wildlife Trust’s star reserves and regarded by the Anglesey County Council as the “jewel in the crown” of its Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It is valued both for its scenic qualities and its unique range of wildlife, and is as popular with general visitors – local people, holidaymakers, walkers etc. as it is with birdwatchers and naturalists.
Swtan - Swtan is a fully restored example of a 17th century Welsh cottage with a thatched roof. It is situated on the beautiful north west Wales coast of Anglesey,in the picturesque village of Church Bay (Porth Swtan). in Church Bay - and is technically our next door neighbour!!
The Lobser Pot - Restaurant in Church Bay is approximately a 100 yards from our front door. Excellent dining and as you've only a two minute walk you can have a drink or two if you're staying at Ty Newydd, Church Bay
Anglesey Sea Zoo - The Anglesey Sea Zoo is an exhibition of living sealife from around the coast of Wales. A wide variety of sealife is on show including Dogfish, Rays and Conger Eels. When we last visited in 2009 the Sea Zoo was also involved in the breeding and rearing of sea bass and turbot. Well worth a visit and if you purchase a family ticket I believe you can come back within a week and not have to pay admittance
Nearby working windmill - The windmill at Llynnon, Anglesey, was built in 1775 at a cost of £500. The only working windmill on the Isle of Anglesey, which once had over 100 mills to grind its large grain havest, it was renovated by Anglesey Borough Council and re-opened in 1986. Open to the public from Easter to the end of September, guided tours are available.

Newborough Warren was created in the 13th century when violent storms buried the farming region under a blanket of sand. To protect the town from further inundation, Elizabeth I passed a law protecting marram grass. Cutting this dune-stabilising plant became a capital offence. Today the warren is home to a number of plants and invertebrates which specialise in the dune environment. |
